Date: 08/19/10 1232hrs 
 
Palmyra Police were dispatched for a burglary to a residence on Orchard Ave. Upon arrival police were advised by the homeowner that the suspect had just left out the rear of the residence on foot. Police were unable to locate the subject. He was described as a dark skinned black male, wearing a black t-shirt and black long shorts, approximately 5’7” to 5’10” tall. Several items were stolen from the home totaling $170.00 in value. There was nobody hurt as a result of this incident. Police are asking anyone with any information to contact the Palmyra Police Dept. 856-829-0191.

An investigation by Palmyra Police Detectives led to the arrest of Corey Smith, 21 yrs old of Palmyra,NJ for theft. Mr. Smith had stolen Play Station unit, play station games, numerous pieces of jewelry totaling $1,075.00 in value and pawned it off at area stores. He stole the items from victim he was residing with at the time. Mr. Smith was lodged in Burlington Co. Jail in lieu of $5,000.00 bail.

After a lengthy investigation Palmyra Police Detectives charged  Tony Petrozelli, 40 yrs old of Cherry Hill, NJ for Burglary, Theft & Criminal Mischief for breaking into the Roger Wilco Liquor store on Rt 73 in Palmyra on 07/17/10. He had broken into numerous other establishments in the County and faces multiple charges. Bail for Palmyra charges is $35,000.00 and he is currently incarcerated.

Palmyra Officers conducted a pedestrian stop in the center of town and found Thomas J. Edgecomb, 47 of Delran, NJ to have warrants totaling $35,280.00. The subject was also in possession of suspected marijuana in a quantity less than 50 grams. The subject was charged for the possession on a summons and transported to Burlington Co. Jail in lieu of bail.

2:36pm During a motor vehicle stop, police conducted an investigation and learned that the passenger in the vehicle they had stopped was a wanted fugitive out of HillsBorough Co. South Tampa Florida. The subject Thomas Farrell, 42yrs old gave false information to police but eventually his true identity was learned. He was wanted for parole violations for distribution of Controlled dangerous substances. Palmyra Police took custody of the subject and charged him as a fugitive from justice and obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer and transported to Burlington County Jail on $17,500.00 bail.

1:51am Palmyra Officer came upon a group of subjects in the Borough parking lot off of Leconey Ave. in the dumpster area. The subjects attempted to flee but were ordered back by Officers. An alert Officer noticed a small baggie of suspected marijuana on the ground and one person’s feet. The subject Joseph Jardel, 20yrs old of Pennsauken, NJ admitted to having discarded the narcotic so he was therefore arrested for Possession of Marijuana under 50 grams and released pending court

3:05am Palmyra Police were dispatched to River Rd for a vehicle on fire. Upon arrival Officers found the interior of a vehicle fully involved. Pennsauken Fire Dept. extinguished the fire due to the original caller giving an incorrect location. There were no injuries at the scene and no driver for the vehicle involved. 5:45am this same date Riverside Police were called for a report of a stolen car in their town. Investigation revealed that the vehicle on fire was the stolen vehicle from Riverside. Palmyra Police will be investigating this case as an Arson. Police are asking for help from anyone who may have drove by the area of River Rd. near Frenzel’s Auto Repair during the time in question and possibly witnessed something. Please contact Palmyra Police at 856-829-0191 if you have any information at all.

3:19am Palmyra Police were dispatched to Roger Wilco Liquor Store on Rt. 73N for a burglar alarm. Upon arrival Officers found the glass to the front door broken out. A K-9 search of the building and surrounding area was negative for any suspects. Detectives were able to review surveillance cameras and a suspect was seen breaking out the glass with a hammer, entering the building and stealing a display shelf containing approximately 10 cartons of cigarettes. Stolen merchandise was estimated at $750.00 and damage to window at $1,000.00. The suspect was a white male dressed in a dark blue coat, blue jeans and a dark colored mask on. Police are asking for anyone that may have any information on this crime to contact Palmyra Police at 856-829-0191. You may remain anonymous.

At 3:55pm Palmyra Police stopped Ryan Andrien 19, of Pottstown, Pa for not keeping his vehicle within the proper lane on Cinnaminson Ave. and utilizing a cell phone in his hand while steering with the other hand. Once stopped the Officer conducted further investigation and found the driver to be under the influence of alcoholic beverage and subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated. The driver was processed at headquarters and issued nine motor vehicle summons and released to a friend after proper documentation was signed.

3:15am Palmyra Police were dispatched to the 800 block of Cinnaminson Ave for the report of a motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival Police found that one vehicle had struck two parked vehicles. After further investigation it was learned that the driver was under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated under age and careless driving. The female Jessica Kennedy 19 of Cinnaminson was processed and released to a parent after proper forms were completed.

A Palmyra Police Officer conducted a motor vehicle stop at 11:57pm on this date at Rt. 73N and Fifth St. After smelling suspected burnt marijuana emanating from the driver’s compartment, the Officer began to peer inside the vehicle with his flashlight and immediately noticed a small amount of suspected marijuana between the driver’s seat and the door. The driver Robert Gibson 32, of Camden, NJ was taken into custody without incident and charged and releases for Possession of marijuana.

A home invasion occurred at approximately 11:30am this date. Police were dispatched to a home on Race Street, where the elderly resident was unsure if the perpetrator was still on location. Police searched the residence and no suspects were found. The front door had been pushed in or kicked in and minimal property was taken. The resident had awoken to her bedroom door being pulled shut and by the time she called 911 and got out of bed the suspect(s) were gone. Police are asking for anyone who has any information about this incident to please contact police immediately at 856-829-0191. No piece of information is too small.

On June 30, 2010 at 5:22 pm Palmyra Police Officers were dispatched to the Roger Wilco Liquor Store for a disorderly subject. Officer’s enroute to Roger Wilco were informed that a black female in a white a shirt had caused damage in the store and left in a maroon Nissan with a Pennsylvania registration. A Palmyra Officer in the area found the vehicle parked in the Administration Parking Lot of the Burlington County Bridge Commission on Market Street. 

 
As Officers attempted to speak to the occupants of the vehicle the driver Elizabeth Washington-Diaz, 22 years of age from Philadelphia became loud cursing at officers. She refused to answer officer’s questions and refused to provide officers with her name or identification. Ms. Washington-Diaz was taken into custody and charged with Obstruction of Justice, Disorderly Conduct and Criminal Mischief. 
 
Investigation revealed that Ms. Washington-Diaz became upset inside Roger Wilco when employees refused to serve her or her friend without either of them producing id to confirm that they were over the age of 21 and allowed to legally purchase alcoholic beverages. Ms. Washington-Diaz proceeded to curse at store employees and knocked over and damaged a computer monitor and display.
 
Ms. Washington-Diaz was processed at Palmyra Police Headquarters and released pending court.

On June 25, 2010 at approximately 11:57 pm a Palmyra Officer on patrol along Rt. 73 North stopped a vehicle on the toll plaza of the Tacony Palmyra Bridge for a traffic offense. The driver Rasul H. Dunlap, 25 years of age from Camden City claimed not to have a drivers license in his possession and provided the name of Matthew Dunlap to officers. A check of the information provided was found to belong to a deceased subject. Rasul H. Dunlap was placed under arrest for hindering apprehension. As officers were completing paper work they found a NJ Id Card for Rasul Dunlap. A warrants check revealed that Rasul Dunlap had numerous outstanding warrants.

Also in the vehicle in plain sight officers found a container containing suspected marijuana. The front seat passenger, Shawn Singleton, 29 years of age from Camden City advised officers that the container was his and he was placed under arrest for possession of marijuana.

 
The back seat passenger Hasaan Custis, 29 years of age from Camden City was found to have an outstanding warrant out Cherry Hill Municipal Court. Hasaan Custis was taken into custody on this warrant.
 
All three (3) subjects were taken to police headquarters for processing. Rasul Dunlap was charged with hindering apprehension and transported to Burlington County Jail on this charge and five (5) outstanding warrants.
 
Shawn Singleton was charged with possession of marijuana and released pending court.
 
Hasaan Custis was released by Cherry Hill municipal court with a new court date.

On June 25, 2010 at approximately 7:40 pm a Palmyra Officer on patrol in the area of Market Street observed a white Chevrolet being operated by a subject he knew to be wanted by the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department. The officer stopped the vehicle in the closed Dunkin Donuts parking lot along Rt 73 and Souder Street. The driver Gregory Grimes II, 29 years old from Philadelphia was taken into custody on an outstanding child support warrant out of Burlington County Superior Court. Mr. Grimes was also charged with driving on a suspended license. Mr. Grimes was lodged in Burlington County Jail.

Palmyra Police observed a dispute between two vehicles on Rt. 73 S. and Souder St where five subjects were out of two vehicles. Police investigated the situation and arrested Aaron Johnson 22yrs old of Burlington City, NJ for possession of suspected marijuana under 50 grams. He was served a summons and released. All parties had been at a club in Philadelphia where one of the subjects got very intoxicated and was starting problems with his other friends causing the suspect to want him out of his vehicle which led to the police involvement.

Palmyra Officers arrested Arnaldo Diaz 21yrs old of Philadelphia, PA for outstanding Violation of Probation warrant and possession of cocaine. The defendant was stopped for motor vehicle violations and found to have a warrant and was therefore taken into custody. While in custody the defendant was found to have a small amount of cocaine hidden in his pant leg. Bail was set at $10,000.00 and the defendant was transported to Burlington County Jail.

Police were called to Palmyra Liquors, 107 West Broad Street for an armed robbery at gunpoint. A light skin black male wearing a black mask and black shirt entered the store and approached the store manager brandishing a small handgun. The subject took money from the mangers pockets and the cash register. The subject was last seen leaving the store towards Leconey Ave. No injuries were reported, the subject made off with an undisclosed amount of money. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Palmyra Police Detective Bureau at 856-829-0198.

Palmyra Police were called to investigate a theft at the Country Fresh Market 9 East Broad St. The owner advised that he had a black Calvin Klein bag ($100.00) taken along with a Garmin Navigation System ($129.00) and Apple Ipod ($300.00) that were inside the bag. The owner believed he had a good idea who committed the theft based on surveillance cameras at the store. Detectives were able to follow up with the owner and retrieve copies of the footage. On 6/17/10 detectives were able to apprehend the suspect using the footage from the camera and then doing their own surveillance in the area of the Riverline Train Platform. The suspect was found to be Eduard R. Morales 21 of Camden, NJ. Detectives were able to retrieve all the missing merchandise with no loss or damage. The suspect was charged with indictable theft.

Police were called to investigate the theft of a bicycle that was parked on the side of Manny’s Pizza on Broad St. The victim stated that he left his black Eastern bicycle valued at $246.00 parked beside the pizza shop at 5:00pm and when he returned to it at 5:15pm the bike was missing. The bike is a black 20 inch BMX Eastern bike with gold lettering spelling out “COBRA”. Police are asking for anyone who may have knowledge of the theft or the whereabouts of the bicycle to contact Palmyra Police Dept. at 856-829-0191.

Palmyra Officer arrested Ruth Schmid 52yrs old of Cinnaminson, NJ for Driving while intoxicated, Consumption of alcohol in a vehicle, Careless Driving, Leaving the scene of an accident and Failure to report an accident. Police received a call that the defendant had struck two parked vehicles in the area of Walnut Street and W. Spring Garden Street and was still driving through the Borough. Police were able to stop the female without further incident at Cinnaminson Ave and W. Henry St.

Palmyra Police Officers worked in conjunction with Stumar Investigations on a special operation at the Palmyra Flea Market. This operation was an effort to make arrests for the selling of counterfeit merchandise. Officers were able to arrest Oi Ping Ha 48yr old female from Woodside, NY. The defendant was apprehended selling counterfeit jewelry in the name of Chanel, Guggi, Tiffany, Juicy Couture and Coach. She was in possession of 1,574 pieces of illegal jewelry. The suspect was charged with Trademark Counterfeiting, Criminal Simulation, Forgery, Theft by Deception and bail was set at $40,000.00. The suspect was lodged in the Burlington County Jail.

Palmyra Officer made a motor vehicle stop during a “click it or ticket” detail on a 1993 tan Buick for the operator not wearing a seatbelt. Subsequent investigation revealed that the driver, Keane Davis of Philadelphia, PA had two outstanding warrants totaling $934.00 and was found to be in possession of an Elishewitz Combat Knife. The suspect was charged with possession of weapon and turned over to Moorestown PD for the warrants.

Palmyra Officers were dispatched for a theft in progress from a motor vehicle parked in the Borough parking lot off Leconey Ave. Upon arrival the suspect, Leslie Libby of Riverton, NJ had left the area in a Ford Taurus, Black in color. Police stopped the vehicle a few blocks away and the suspect was charged with Criminal Attempt of Theft for attempting to steal a roll of copper from the victims van. The suspect was served with a special complaint and released from Palmyra Police Headquarters pending court.

11:57am Palmyra Police were called to investigate a Fraud committed upon an elderly female. The victim told police that a white male knocked on her door on 5/14/10 and said he was from “All City Fire Protection”. He claimed he was sent there by a contractor that the victim frequently uses. He said he was there to look at her chimney. The victim thought nothing of it and permitted him to enter. He proposed a bid for $2,000.00 to do work on the chimney. She allowed the work to be done but was not sure if anything was ever really completed so she placed a stop on the check that she had issued. The contractor never returned to question the stopped check and repeated calls to the phone number given by the contractor went unanswered.  Police also made numerous attempts to call the contractor.  The phone rings and rings and then eventually stops without any answering service. The suspects drove in a white van with no business markings on the side. The victim describes the only two men she saw as white males with dark hair and one taller than the other. Police are asking everyone to be vigilant in watching for such activity and to contact police if you see anyone going house to house to do work. If you see a van fitting this description stopping at houses in your neighborhood, please call police 856-829-0191.

8:07am Palmyra Police were called to investigate a lost/stolen cellular telephone from the Light Rail Train platform at Broad St and Cinnaminson Ave. The victim accidentally left her cellular phone on one of the benches when she got on the train. When she realized and came back it was gone. Anyone who might have seen someone pick up a phone on that date should call Palmyra PD at 856-829-0191. The missing phone was a black T-Mobile Motor Blur Cliq with purple cover.

4:30pm Palmyra Police were called to investigate a stolen bicycle at the Palmyra High School. The victim left his bike at the bike rack while he/she went into the High School for just a few minutes and when he/she returned the bike was gone. The missing bike is a Mongoose BMX bicycle with tan handle bars valued at $100.00. If anyone has any information with respect to this case, please contact Palmyra PD at 856-829-0191.

Report was made to Palmyra Police that a vehicle was stolen from the Tacony Flea Market between 12pm and 1pm. The vehicle was a 1994 Mazda Protégé 4dr, black in color bearing PA GRX-8378. There was also a television in the vehicle that had been purchased at the Flea Market. There was no make or model for the television.

On May 14, 2010 at approximately 7:00 am Palmyra Police Detectives assisted by the Palmyra / Delran Joint SWAT Team executed a search warrant on a residence on the 1000 block of Harbour Dr. in Palmyra. The execution of the search warrant culminated an investigation by Palmyra Detectives into drug sales from the residence. 

During a search of the residence detective’s recovered controlled substances believed to be marijuana and cocaine packaged for sale along with drug paraphernalia.  

The resident Moral Best age 38 was charged with numerous drug offenses and lodged in the Burlington County Jail on $87,500.00 bail.

Palmyra Police conducted a motor vehicle stop for motor vehicle violations on Rt. 73 South. The driver, Jason Flory 33 of Burlington, NJ was asked for his driver credentials to which he said he did not have his license with him. The driver opened his center console and officers saw a Pennsylvania Drivers license. At closer inspection police saw suspected marijuana in the console on top of the drivers license. Mr. Flory was taken into custody and charged with Possession of Controlled dangerous substance and several motor vehicle violations and released.
 
Date: May 3rd, 2010 2017hrs.
 
Palmyra Police were called to investigate Criminal Mischief to a vehicle at the parking lot adjacent to the new football field at Legion Pk. Police spoke to the victim who said he parked his 2001, Nissan Maxima in the parking lot near the football field at 6:15pm and when he returned to his car at 8:15pm the back window was shattered. Numerous rocks were seen around the vehicle that could have caused the damage. Damage was estimated at $300.00

Palmyra Police were called to investigate a stolen motor vehicle from the Tacony Palmyra Flea Market. Officers spoke to the victim who stated that while shopping at the flea market his 2007 black Subaru 4dr Impazza wrx sti bearing NJ WKU-90T was stolen. The vehicle was valued at $25,000.00. The vehicle was entered into NCIC so that any police nationwide who would come in contact with the vehicle could determine that it was stolen.
 
 
Date: May 01, 2010 1118hrs.
 
Palmyra Officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Rt. 73 North for motor vehicle violations. Upon gathering information from the driver, David Beckles 40 of Philadelphia, PA, it was learned through NCIC check that he was a Fugitive from Justice out of Bucks County, PA for receiving stolen property. The subject was also found to have six other warrants totaling $5,030.00. The subject was issued several motor vehicle summons and was charged as a fugitive and lodged in the Burlington County Jail pending extradition.
 

APRIL 10, 2010 @ 4:23 PM

On Saturday April 10th at approximately 4:23 pm Palmyra Borough Councilman Theodore Scott was walking through Palmyra’s Legion Field. Mr. Scott observed 8 to 10 white males approximately 17 to 20 years old skate boarding on benches and walls not meant for skateboarding. Mr. Scott approached the skateboarders in an attempt to have them move to the Borough Skate Park. The subjects jumped Mr. Scott knocking him to the ground where they struck and kicked him. The subjects fled from the area leaving Mr. Scott who required medical attention. Anyone with information on the subjects involved is asked to contact the Palmyra Police Department Detective Bureau at 856-829-0198 or via e-mail at policeatboroughofpalmyra [dot] com (policeatboroughofpalmyra [dot] com)

APRIL 10, 2010 @ 12:57 AM

On Saturday April 10th at approximately 12:57 am a Palmyra Officer attempted to stop a gold Saturn along Rt. 73 North in the area of FC Kerbecks. The driver of the car was having a hard time keeping the vehicle in one lane of travel and was believed to be possibly intoxicated. The driver turned the vehicle into the jug handle in front of FC Kerbeck Cadillac traveling in the wrong direction and continued on to enter Rt 73 North traveling in the wrong direction at a high rate of speed. Officers did not follow the vehicle onto Rt 73 North. Palmyra Officers entered Rt. 73 South in an attempt to keep contact with the vehicle and notify on coming drivers. 

 
As officers caught up to the vehicle they observed it collide head on with another vehicle. The driver of the Saturn, Christopher Long, 26 years of age of Lumberton, NJ ran from his car into a wooded area along the Pennsauken Creek where officers were able to apprehend him. 
 
The driver of the vehicle struck by Christopher Long was transported to Cooper Medical Center where he was treated and released.
 
Christopher Long was charged with Assault by Vehicle, Eluding Police, DWI and numerous motor vehicle offenses. Christopher Long was lodged in Burlington County Jail on $20,000.00 bail.

MARCH 28, 2010

On Sunday March 28th at approximately 9:55pm Palmyra Officers were dispatched to 213 South Route 73 for subjects illegally dumping trash. Arriving officers found a box truck backed to a fence. The driver Eugenio Rodriguez, 37 years of age from Philadelphia admitted that he had dumped drywall, wood and other building items in the weeds and grass. Mr. Rodriguez was charged with illegal dumping and released pending court. 

MARCH 27, 2010

On Saturday March 27th at approximately 3:40am a Palmyra Officer observed a red Jeep Wrangler driving erratically on South Broad Street in the area of Morgan Ave. After speaking to the driver and having him attempt Field Sobriety Tests the investigating officer believed the driver to be intoxicated and unable to safely operate a motor vehicle.

The driver Dane Sharp, 23 years old from Riverside, NJ was placed under arrest and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Refusal to Submit to Breath Tests and Careless Driving. Mr. Sharp was released to a relative pending court. 

MARCH 18, 2010

On Thursday March 18th at approximately 12:30am a Palmyra Officer stopped a Honda Civic in the area of Spring Garden Street and Pennsylvania Ave.  The officer had observed the Honda being operated with out its lights on.  The driver was also driving erratically and did not stop for numerous stop signs. 

 

When the officer made contact with the driver Daniel Walters, 20 years of age from Maple Shade the officer observed Daniel was attempting to conceal a case beer between his legs.  Daniel was taken into custody for underage possession of alcoholic beverages.  Daniel was processed and release pending court.  A 19 year old passenger was released at the scene. 

MARCH 17, 2010

On Wednesday March 17th at approximately 9:30am a Palmyra Officer stopped a Mazda Protégé on Route 73 South in the area of River Road for a motor vehicle violation.  Further investigation revealed that the license plate on the vehicle was not the assigned plate and belonged to another car.  Officers found that the car had been reported stolen in Philadelphia on March 11, 2010.

 

The driver Joshua Garner, 18 years old from Riverside was arrested for receiving stolen property.  Mr. Garner was processed and released pending court. The passenger a 15 year old female from Philadelphia was turned over to a family member. 

 

MARCH 10, 2010

On Wednesday March 10th at approximately 8:15pm Palmyra Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Pear Street for one or two suspicious subjects sitting in a dark colored car. The caller believed that one of the subjects had a gun earlier in the day.

 
Arriving officers did find a dark colored Mercury parked in the middle of the 100 block of Pear Street. The vehicle was occupied by one subject who admitted to have been smoking marijuana prior to the officers arriving. The subject Carl Pierce Jr. of the 100 block of Pear Street was found to be in possession of two baggies of marijuana. 
 
Carl Pierce Jr. was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance within a school zone and failure to surrender a controlled substance to a law enforcement. Carl Pierce Jr. was released on $25,000.00 bond pending court.

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 27, 2010

On Saturday February 27th at approximately 2:20 am a Palmyra Officer observed a vehicle traveling along Rt. 73 South having a problem maintaining the lane of travel.  The vehicle came close to making contact with the concrete median.   When the vehicle was stopped the driver was found to have been consuming alcoholic beverages and impaired.  The driver Stephen Ponente Jr. of Philadelphia was placed under arrest for DWI.  Mr. Ponente was processed and released pending court. 

 

SUNDAY JANUARY 24, 2010

 On Sunday January 24th at approximately 3:30 am Palmyra Officers responded to the 700 block of Park Ave for a motor vehicle crash. Arriving officers found that a vehicle traveling down Park Ave had struck a parked car. The investigating officer spoke to the driver who said that he dropped an item and was attempting to pick it up. The officer detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage and believed the driver to be intoxicated. Field Sobriety Tests were conducted and the driver Alonzo Brown of the 400 block of West Broad Street, Palmyra was placed under arrest for DWI. Mr. Brown was processed and released pending court. 

FRIDAY JANUARY 22 / SATURDAY JANUARY 23, 2010

On Friday January 22nd the Palmyra Police were notified by Philadelphia Police Detectives that they had obtained an arrest warrant for Robert Carey of Riverfront Drive, Palmyra. The Philadelphia warrant was for Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault and Terroristic Threats. The Philadelphia Detectives requested the assistance of the Palmyra P.D. in apprehending Mr. Carey. Palmyra officers provided surveillance of the address given by Philadelphia Detectives and on Saturday January 23rd at approximately 9:30 am Palmyra officers observed Mr. Carey exit his residence and enter a blue Mercedes SUV.

 
As Mr. Carey and a female companion drove out of the housing complex officers stopped the vehicle. Mr. Carey was taken into custody and charged as being a fugitive from justice. Mr. Carey was lodged in Burlington County Jail awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania. 
 
THURSDAY JANUARY 21, 2010
 

On Thursday January 21, 2010 @ approximately 12:05 pm officers were dispatched to Palmyra High School for a fight. Responding officers were advised that the School Principal and a School staff member had been struck. Arriving officers were informed by school personnel that several students in the cafeteria had gotten into a verbal argument. As the principal and staff members attempted to escort those involved from the cafeteria to the office a female juvenile student pulled away from the school principal. The student then grabbed the principal’s arm and pulled her. As a school staff member attempted to assist the principal he was struck from behind by an adult male student.

POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING SPRAY PAINTED TAGS THAT WERE PAINTED IN THE AREA OF SIXTH STREET AND RACE STREET, SIXTH STREET AND VINE STREET AND ARCH STREET.  OFFICERS FOUND "GMFB AND "GBOYZ" PAINTED ON THE STREET AND SIDEWALK.  ANYONE WITH INFORMATION IS ASKED TO CONTACT THE PALMYRA POLICE DETECTIVE BUREAU. 

FRIDAY JANUARY 15, 2010

On Friday January 15th at approximately 11:10 pm an officer observed a suspicious vehicle occupied by three (3) subjects parked at the corner of West Sixth Street and Delaware Ave. As the investigating officer approached the front passenger door to speak with the occupants he observed the front seat passenger attempt to stuff a clear baggie into his pants pocket. The officer seeing that the bag contained what he believed to marijuana had the front seat passenger step out of the car. The officer took custody of the baggie and the front seat passenger, David Wilmer Jr, 18 years old from Williamstown NJ was placed under arrest for possession a controlled dangerous substance. As officers searched David Wilmer they recovered a loaded 38 caliber revolver.  

 David Wilmer was charged with Drug and Weapon Offenses. Unable to post the required bail David Wilmer was transported to Burlington County Jail. 

SATURDAY DECEMBER 19, 2009

On Saturday December 19th at approximately 1:18 am officers were dispatched to the area of 5400 Riverfront Drive for a subject possibly entering unlocked cars. Investigating officers observed footprints leading to and from numerous cars parked along Riverfront Drive. Officers followed the footsteps and eventually caught up with subject in the driveway of 6800 Riverfront Drive. Upon seeing police the subject ran from officers and was chased around a building where he was taken into custody. 

 The subject a 16 year old juvenile from Riverfront Drive Palmyra was transported to police hq’s. The juvenile was charged with 3 counts of Criminal Trespass, 2 counts of Burglary and 2 counts of Theft. The juvenile was turned over to his mother pending County Juvenile Court. 

FRIDAY DECEMBER 18, 2009

On Friday December 18th at approximately 3:30 am an officer performed a random computer check of vehicle which showed the vehicle had been reported stolen from Clayton, Gloucester County. Officers stopped the vehicle on Route 73 in the area of Bridge Toll Plaza. The driver Kristine Bumbaugh, 38 years old of Clayton NJ was taken into custody. Ms. Bumbaugh was also found to have in her possession items used to ingest and inject controlled substances. Ms. Bumbaugh was charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Ms. Bumbaugh was unable to post the required bail and was transported to Burlington County Jail in Pemberton.

 A passenger in the vehicle Elgin Bush, 44 years old from Camden City was found to have an outstanding warrant issued by Camden County Superior Court. Mr. Bush was transported to Camden County Jail.  

THURSDAY DECEMBER 17, 2009 @ 4:50 PM

On Thursday December 17th at approximately 4:50 pm officers were dispatched to Palmyra High School for the theft of a wallet. Arriving officers were given the description of two (2) subjects; one subject was seen leaving the classroom where the wallet had been stolen. Both subjects were seen leaving the building together. Witnesses believed the subject seen leaving the classroom was a previous student; a juvenile from Beverly. 

Officers checked the area and stopped two (2) subjects who match the description given at the Palmyra Light Rail Station. The subjects stopped were the juvenile identified by witnesses and Jamill Jones an 18 year old from Beverly. Both subjects were transported to Palmyra High School where they were identified by witnesses. 
 
At Police Hq’s officers were able to determine that the wallet had been discarded by a business on West Broad Street. Officers found the wallet and contents alongside the Indulge Salon on West Broad Street. Additional contents were found near the Light Rail Station. 
 
Both subjects were charged with Defiant Trespass for entering the School. The juvenile was also charged with theft. Jamill Jones was released on a summons pending Municipal Court. The juvenile was released to a relative pending Juvenile Court. 

THURSDAY DECEMBER 17, 2009 @ 1:30 AM

On Thursday December 17th at approximately 1 a.m. a Palmyra Officer in the area ofWest Sixth and Race Street observed a subject dressed in dark clothing standingby a van. It appeared that when the subject observed the officer he quickly walked into a residence on the 500 block of Race Street. He officer checked the van and found that it had been reported stolen in Camden City. 

Officers went to the house that they saw the subject enter and were informed that the vehicle was being driven by Eugene Howard. The resident called Mr. Howard to come to the door where officers took him into custody without incident. Eugene Howard of Park Boulevard in Camden City was charged with receiving stolen property. Mr. Howard was also wanted on outstanding warrants out of Burlington Township and Camden City. 

Mr. Howard was lodged in Burlington County Jail.

WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 9, 2009

On Wednesday December 9th the owners of Dollar Store located at 11 West Broad Street reported the theft of $900.00.  Investigating officers reviewed store surveillance recordings which revealed that Palmyra resident Antoinette Chapman and a 17 year old juvenile had worked togethter to distract the clerk and take the money. 

Antoinette Chapman was charged with theft and employing a juvenile to commit a crime.  Ms. Chapman was arrested by police and lodged in Burlington County Jail. 

The juvenile was also charged with theft and turned over to a family member pending court. 

TUESDAY DECEMBER 2, 2009

Police are investigating the theft of tools from a contractors van parked on the 700 block of Pennsylvania Ave.  The victim report that sometime Monday night November 31st into Tuesday morning December 1st the rear door to his van was forced open.  The victim reported that numerous tools were taken from inside the rear of the van.

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 29, 2009 @ 2:42 PM

Officers on patrol in the Palmyra Flea Market were advised of a dispute / fight in the vendor area of the flea market.  Investigating officers found a dispute between a vendor and a patron.  The vendor had accused the patron of stealing a pair of baby shoes.  As officers attempted to quell the situation the patron, Renee Williams of Carlisle Street, Philadelphia refused to calm down.  Ms. Williams continued to scream and curse at the vendor and police after being warned numerous times to stop.

A second subject Shateeka Whittaker-Barnes of Marshall Street, Philadelphia approached the vendor as police were attempting to sort out the situation.  Ms. Whittaker-Barnes attempted to fight the vendor in the presence of officers and was also out of control.

Both subjects were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.  Ms. Whittaker-Barnes was also charged with resisting arrest.  Ms. Williams was processed and released pending court.  Ms. Whittaker-Barnes was released after posting the necessary cash bail.

On Saturday November 29 at 12:52 am a patrol officer stopped a Toyota Corolla on Rt. 73 South for disregard of a traffic light.  While speaking the driver the officer believed he detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage.  Further investigation found the driver Jamal Baylor-Ali of Lee Ave, Pennsauken to be impaired and under the influence of alcoholic beverages.  Mr. Baylor-Ali was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters for processing.  Mr. Baylor-Ali was charged with DWI, DWI under the legal age to drink, disregard of a traffic light, driving while suspended and violation of provisional drivers license.  Mr. Baylor-Ali was released pending court. 

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 28, 2009 @ 10:35 PM

 A patrol officer was checking an illegally parked car at the corner of  West Charles Street and Filbert Street.  When the officer made contact with a subject sitting in the car the officer believed he had observed activity associated with the use of illegal drugs.  Through further investigation and a consent to search the car officers found a plastic sandwich bag containing a green leafy vegetation believed to be marijuana.  The driver/owner of the car Daniel Kershes III of New Jersey Ave, Palmyra was placed under arrest for possession of marijuana.  Mr. Kershes was processed at police headquarters and released pending court.

A motor vehicle stop along Route 73 North led to the arrest of the driver Jack Moseley Jr. of Anchor Street, Philadelphia..  Mr. Moseley was wanted on an outstanding traffic warrant issued by Cherry Hill Municipal Court.  Mr. Moseley was processed at police headquarters and released with a new court date.  

THURSDAY NOVEMBER 26, 2009

Police are investigating the theft of bike from a shed in the rear of house on the 800 block of Columbia Ave.  The bike is black Fugi XC-BLVD men’s bike.  The shed had been unlocked. The bike was taken sometime between November 20th and November 26th. 

 

WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 25, 2009 @ 5:55PM

Offiicers responded to East Broad Street in the area of Cinnaminson Ave for a motor vehicle accident.  Arriving officers found a two vehicle accident where one vehicle had driven into the rear of another.  Investigating officers found the driver of the striking vehicle to have been drinking and determined that she was impaired.  The driver Krista Schneider of Pennsylvania Ave, Palmyra was placed under arrest for DWI. 

Ms. Schneider was transported to Palmyra Police Hq's where she was processed for DWI.  MS. Schneider refused to provided breath samples for  testing and was charged with DWI, Refusing to Submit to Breath Samples and Careless Driving.  Ms. Schneider was released pending court.

WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 25, 2009

Police are investigating the illegal entry into a vehicle parked on the 7100 block of Juniper Lane.  The vehicle was entered sometime between 7pm Tuesday November 24th and 11:45am Wednesday November 25th.  Two dollars in coins was taken from the car.  The victim reports that the car was left unlocked.

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 21, 2009

On Saturday November 21st at approximately 11:53 pm officers stopped a Red Ford Escape for a motor vehicle violation on East Broad Street in the area of Morgan Ave.  Speaking to the driver the investigating officer suspected the driver Luis Oyuela of New Albany Road in Moorestown to possibly be intoxicated.  Further investigation led to Mr. Oyuela being placed under arrest for DWI.  Mr. Oyuela was processed for the DWI and driving while suspended and released pending court.

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 15, 2009

 

Police are investigating the theft of a Ford Van from the Tacony Palmyra Flea Market.  Officers working inside the flea market were informed of a subject possibly attempting to steal a van from the parking lot.  Officers checked the area and were unable to find the van in question.

Approximately 90 minutes later the victim, a resident of Philadelphia reported his Ford van stolen.  The owner informed police that he had used a club on the steering wheel and thought that would keep his vehicle safe.

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 14, 2009

Officers stopped a black Honda Civic on West Charles Street and New Jersey Ave after the vehicle attempted to cut through a parking lot almost striking a parked car.  While speaking to the driver officers believed the driver to under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and possibly impaired.  The driver Douangphoxay Mounelasy was asked to perform field sobriety tests after which he was placed under arrest for DWI. 

Mr. Mounelasy of Jackson Street, Philadelphia, Pa was transported to Police Hq's where was processed for DWI.  Mr. Mounelasy was released pending court.

 

THURSDAY NOVEMBER 5, 2009

Thursday November 5th at 2:46 am officers observed a vehicle stopped on Cinnaminson Ave at the traffic light for Broad Street.  The vehicle was stopped past the white line into the intersection causing vehicles to have to drive around the front of the vehicle.  The vehicle also did not go when the light turned green. 

Investigating officers attempted to speak to the driver who appeared to be frantically looking for something in the passenger compartment of the car.  The driver appeared startled when he realized an officer was standing next to his car attempting to get his attention.  An officer noticed the driver to be holding a glass pipe used to smoke cocaine.  As officers had the driver step out of the car he was unable to stand falling back against the car.  Further inspection of the car officers found a small bag containing what was believed to be crack cocaine on the drivers floor.

The driver John McKeon of Newbold Ave in Moorestown was placed under arrest for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Crack Cocaine and DWI.  Mr. McKeon was processed and released pending court.

 

THURSDAY OCTOBER 29, 2009

On Thursday October 29th Palmyra Police Detectives with the assistance of the Palmyra/Delran, Burlington City, Willingboro and Cherry Hill Tactical Teams executed search warrants on three (3) residences on West Fifth Street within the Borough of Palmyra. All three (3) search warrants were based on the sale of illegal narcotics within the Borough of Palmyra. Palmyra Detectives along with K9 teams from Evesham and Voorhees Police Departments search the three (3) residents. Detectives confiscated illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Police arrested three (3) Palmyra and one (1) Willingboro residents who were charged with numerous drug charges. All four (4) were lodged in Burlington County Jail. 

TUESDAY OCTOBER 27, 2009

On Tuesday October 27th at 2:13 am officers were dispatched to 111 West Broad Street for a possible burglary in progress. Responding officers were advised of a white male in a white Jeep making entry to a building under construction.

A responding officer observed a white Jeep driving away from the area and stopped the Jeep on East Broad Street. Inside the vehicle officers observed a pair of bolt cutters and numerous electrical cords, lights and wire. At first the driver, Jonathan Armstrong, 21 years of age from Harrison Street in Riverside stated the items were his and he did not enter the building. Officers questioned Jonathan further and he admitted to entering 111 West Broad Street, a building which is under construction and taking wire from the basement. 

 

 Jonathan was arrested for Burglary, Possession of Burglary Tools and Theft. Jonathon was processed and released pending court.
   
 

MONDAY OCTOBER 26, 2009

On Monday October 26th at 11:36pm officers responded to the 500 block of Morgan Ave for a motor vehicle accident. On location officers found an older Chrysler with heavy damage in the middle of the street and a parked vehicle which had been struck also had a large amount of damage. A witness advised officers that she observed the driver an older white male walking away from the damaged Chrysler.

 Officers located the driver of the Chrysler at his residence a half a block away on the 400 block of Morgan Ave. The driver identified as Edward Wreen appeared intoxicated and admitted to striking the parked car and drinking alcoholic beverages. Mr. Wreen was arrested for DWI and released pending court. 

   

SUNDAY OCTOBER 18, 2009

On Sunday October 18th at 8:30am officers stopped a black Dodge pick up truck Route 73 South for a motor vehicle violation.  Further investigation found that the driver Howard Lewis of Robbins Ave, Philadelphia was wanted by Philadelphia Police Department. Mr. Lewis was wanted for aggravated assault with a motor vehicle.  Mr. Lewis was taken into custody and charged as a fugitive from justice.  Mr. Lewis was lodged in Burlington County Jail on $10,000.00 cash bail awaiting extradition to Philadelphia.   

SUNDAY OCTOBER 11, 2009

On Sunday October 11th at 10:58pm officers were dispatched to the area of Sixth Street and Weart Boulevard for a possible robbery in progress.  Arriving officers found the victim getting off the ground and picking up his bike.  The victim was somewhat dazed, told officers that he was riding through the area when four subjects standing in the area of Sixth Street and Vine Street said something to him.  When he stopped the subjects, two (2) males and two (2) females knocked him down and started striking him while attempting to get his wallet.  The subjects were unable to get the victims wallet or money.  They fled when the victim started screaming for help.

WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 7, 2009 

On Wednesday October 7th at approximately 11:30pm an officer on patrol observed a white male standing out of his vehicle urinating in the Roger Wilco Parking Lot, Rt 73 North at Broad Street.  As the officer drove into the parking lot the male got back into his vehicle and drove north on Rt. 73.  The officer stopped the subject and could detect a strong odor of an alocholic beverage.  The driver failed to complete field sobriety test and was placed under arrest for DWI.

The driver, Alezsandr Gura was transported to police hq's where he was processed for DWI.  While at police hq's Mr. Gura claimed to be ill and was transport to Lourdes Medical Center in Willingboro. 

 

 

SCHOOL IS BACK IN SESSION
 
As of Monday September 14th Palmyra Schools are back in session. The Palmyra Police Department would like to remind everyone to be mindful of students walking to and from school. We would ask that drivers be more cautious when approaching intersections and to follow the directions of the Police Department’s Crossing Guards. As always please remember to buckle up and that it is illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving.

Police activity for the weekend of October 2, 2009.
 
Police are investigating the theft of a bicycle from the Light Rail Station.  On Friday October 2, 2009 a Palmyra Resident reported that he left his bike by the Light Rail Station while speaking to a friend on the train station platform.  The victim said that he was not on the platform more than 10 minutes when he returned to find his bike missing.  The bike is Fugu CX 350 blue in color.
 
Warrant Arrests:
The following subjects were arrested for outstanding warrants:
Donald Lombard of Legion Ave, Palmyra was arrested for an outstanding warrant out of Riverton Borough.
 
Jeffrey White of Elm Ave, Riverton was arrested for an outstanding Burlington County Superior Court warrant.
 
Jahwann Lampkin of Rt. 130, Cinnaminson was arrested for an outstanding warrant out of Riverton Borough.
 
Eliud Sosa of Centennial Village, Camden was arrested on two (2) outstanding warrants, an outstanding warrant out of Cherry Hill and a warrant out of Camden County Superior Court.
 
Stephen Schmitt of Bristol, Pa was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Burlington City.
 
Amy Gant of Parry Ave, Palmyra was arrested on four (4) outstanding warrants. Amy had warrants out of Palmyra, Mount Laurel and two (2) out of Evesham.
 
DWI Arrest:
Alcides Empke of Carrol Street, Riverside was stopped by police on Temple Blvd.  Officers had observed Mr. Empke's car to be riding down Cinnaminson Ave with a tire totally torn from the rim.  Investigating officers found Mr. Empke to be impaired and he was placed under arrest DWI.  Mr. Empke was processed and released pending court. 
 
Wednesday September 23, 2009
Palmyra Police are investigating 2 residential burglaries and an attempted burglary. Sometime Tuesday night September 22nd into Wednesday September 23rd unlawful entry was made to a residence on the 100 block of Maryland Ave and the 100 block of Cinnaminson Ave. Also during this same time someone made an attempt to enter a residence on the 100 block of Garfield Ave. As of this time it is not known what was taken from the house on Maryland Ave. A flat screen television was taken from the house on Cinnaminson Ave. Police believe that all 3 incidents are related and to have been committed by the same subject(s). Anyone with information is asked to contact the Palmyra Police Department.
 
Tuesday September 22, 2009 
 
Palmyra Police were dispatched to the 700 block of Parry Ave. Two (2) alert neighbors observed two (2) suspicious black males park a car on Wallace Street and walk around the corner onto Parry Ave. They then observed the two (2) males walk back to their car and drive onto Parry Ave and park half way down the street. The witnesses said that the subjects then walked between two (2) houses and disappeared.
 
Officers were checking houses on the 700 block of Parry Ave when they believed they had found a house that had been broken into. As officers were checking inside the residence they found two (2) subjects attempting to remove TV’s and other electronic equipment. As the officers identified themselves the subjects fled the residence through the front door where they struck an officer knocking him off the front porch of the residence. 
 
Officers chased the two subjects to the area of Cinnaminson Ave and Oak Lane where the subjects fled into the rear yards of Oak Lane. Officers from Palmyra, Cinnaminson, Riverton and the County Bridge Police set up a perimeter in an attempt to confine the subjects. Officers found the subjects in a rear yard on Oak Lane. The subjects were chased onto the first block of West Spring Garden Street where they were taken into custody. 
 
The suspects were juveniles, a 17 year old male from Vineland and a 16 year old from the Delair section of Pennsauken. Both suspects were charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief, hindering apprehension and aggravated assault on a police officer. Both suspects were processed and lodge in the Burlington County Juvenile Detention
 
 
Friday September 18, 2009  
 
Palmyra Police are investigating the theft of jewelry from an elderly resident. The resident reported to police that on the afternoon of Friday September 18th a white male knocked on her door and stated that he had worked on her roof a couple of years ago. He said that he was doing a free inspection of his previous jobs. The resident said that she had not had her roof worked on but allowed the man inside her home. The man led the woman through her home and into her rear yard. When they returned inside the house she now found a white female also in her home. The female said that she worked with the subject doing the roof inspection and kept the woman occupied as the man wandered around her home. The resident said that on Saturday she checked her dresser and found three (3) valuable rings missing.
 
Police are advising residents to not allow any uninvited subjects claiming to be contractors  into their homes. Residents observing any suspicious activity should immediately notify police. 

 Monday September 7, 2009

On Monday September 7, 2009 Sgt. Johnson was approached by passerby who said they possibly just saw a bike stolen. The witness described a black male as taking a yellow bike from the 400 block of Morgan Ave and riding it to the Light Rail Station.

Sgt. Johnson observed a subject with a yellow bike on the Light Rail Platform and approached him for further investigation. The subject seeing the Sergeant put the bike down and walked away in an attempt to leave the area. Once stopped the subject identified as Jordon Marquis Davis, 22 years old of Mantua, NJ said at first that he did not have a bike. After being questioned Mr. Davis admitted to taking the bike saying that he did not want to miss the train. Mr. Davis was charged with theft and released pending court.

The Palmyra and Burlington County Bridge Commission Police Departments have both received Highway Traffic Safety Grants for the Over the Limit Under Arrest Statewide DWI Crackdown. This grant will provide each participating agency with $6000.00 dedicated for DWI enforcement from Friday August 21, thru Monday September 7, 2009.

 

During this period officers will be working roving patrols and operating a DWI checkpoint during specific times of the day concentrating their efforts on finding impaired drivers. We offer the following advice:

Ø      If you plan to drink, designate a driver, someone who will not drink alcohol, before going out.

Ø      Take mass transit, a taxi or ask a sober friend to drive you home.

Ø      Spend the night where the activity is held.

Ø      Report impaired drivers to law enforcement. In New Jersey, drivers may dial #77 to report a drunk or aggressive driver.

Ø      Always buckle up, every ride, regardless of your seating position in the vehicle. It’s your best defense against an impaired driver.

Ø      If you’re intoxicated and traveling on foot, the safest way to get home is to take a cab or have a sober friend or family member drive you to your doorstep.

THURSDAY AUGUST 27, 2009

 

 

On Thursday August 27th at 12:04am officers working DWI patrol stopped a pickup on Route 73 South for speeding. Speaking to the driver officers noticed a strong smell of raw marijuana coming from the truck. The driver Agostino Castellana of Swedesboro admitted to officers that he was in possession of marijuana and turned over to officers a plastic bag of green vegetation believed to be marijuana. During further investigation Mr. Castellana directed officers to a trash bag which contained approximately one pound of marijuana. Mr. Castellana was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance. Mr. Castellana was unable to post the necessary bail and was transported to Burlington County Jail.

 

 

WEDNESDAY AUGUST 26, 2009

On Wednesday August 26th at 8:25 pm officers were dispatched to the Palmyra Light Rail Station for an assault. Callers advised central communications that 3-4 black males had assaulted a subject on the train platform and then left on the north bound train.

 

 

 TUESDAY AUGUST 18, 2009

On Tuesday August 18th at 3:16 am police stopped a Maroon GMC Envoy in the area of East Fourth Street and Garfield Ave.  While speaking with the driver, Edwin J. Steiner investigating officers believed him to possibly be impaired.  Edwin Steiner was asked to complete field sobriety tests which he was unable to complete and placed under arrest for DWI.  Edwin Steiner was processed at police headquarters and released to his father. 

MONDAY AUGUST 17, 2009

On Monday August 17th at 8:30 pm officers responded to the first block of West Broad Street for a motor vehicle accident.  On arrival officers found that a Maroon GMC Envoy had pulled out of a parking spot and struck a car traveling east on West Broad Street.  The Envoy then fled the scene.  Investigating officers spoke to the owner of the Envoy, Edwin S. Steiner of Horace Ave, Palmyra.  Mr. Steiner advised police that his son Edwin J. Steiner had the vehicle.  Edwin J. Steiner was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, careless driving and with being an unlicensed driver.

 

TUESDAY AUGUST 11, 2009

On Tuesday August 11th at 10:50 pm officers stopped a car on Rt 73 South after observing the driver talking on a cell phone while driving. Investigating officers when speaking to the driver noticed a strong odor of burnt marijuana; and observed a blunt cigar in the ash tray. The driver Steven Britt, 26 years old from Philadelphia consented to a search of his vehicle where officers found a small amount of green vegetation believed to be marijuana.

SUNDAY AUGUST 9, 2009

On Sunday August 9 Palmyra Officers stopped a red Corvette after receiving a call that the driver was intoxicated.  Investigating officers stopped the Corvette on West Broad Street and determined the driver, Richard Hampton of Palmyra was impaired. 

Mr. Hampton was arrested for DWI and transported to Palmyra Police Hq's for processing.  Mr. Hampton refused to provide samples of his breath for testing and was charged with DWI and Refusing to Provide Breath Samples.  Mr. Hampton was released pending court.

The following subjects were arrested on outstanding warrants Friday August 7th thru Sunday August 9th:

James Ferguson of Vineland NJ was arrested on outstanding warrants out of Port Republic and Deerfield Twp.

Jonathan R. Alfred of Camden NJ was arrested on outstanding warrants out of Audubon Boro and Deptford Twp.

Brian Brangan of Palmyra NJ was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Audubon Boro.

John C. Richardson of Palmyra NJ was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Elk Twp.

Martin McDevitt of Riverton NJ was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Beverly City.

Donnell Washington of Camden NJ was arrested on outstanding warrants out of Riverside Twp., Bordentown City and Camden City.

Ioannis Kadoanakis of Monroe NJ was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of East Windsor.

AUGUST 9, 2009

August 9th at 9:55 am Palmyra Police were dispatched to a residence on the 600 Block of West Sixth Street for young juveniles left unattended. On location officers found an eight (8) year old and two, six (6) year old juveniles home alone. Investigating officers found there was no working phone and that the children had been alone for approximately one (1) hour. 

 Officers contacted DYFS who responded to the residence. DYFS workers interviewed the children and an uncle who had arrived on location. DYFS turned the children over to the uncle and would continue their investigation.
 
The mother Damaris Matos was charged by police with Endangering the Welfare of Children. Ms. Matos turned herself into Police and was released pending court.

AUGUST 7, 2009

August 7th at 3:30pm Palmyra Police stopped a Blue Dodge Dakota pick up truck for a motor vehicle investigation. A random computer check showed the registration belonged on a different vehicle. The investigating officer found that the driver, James Ferguson of Vineland NJ was wanted on warrants out of Cumberland County. James Ferguson had a suspended driver’s license and was driving an unregistered vehicle.

 
Officers also found in plain view on the front seat a baggie containing green vegetation believed to be marijuana. James was transported to Palmyra Police hq’s where he was processed and released pending court.

JULY 29, 2009

On July 28th Palmyra Police Officers received a call from New York State Parole Officers requesting assistance with locating a subject wanted for violation of parole.

NY Parole officers advised Palmyra Officers that an Andre Muriel was possibly at a residence on Berkley Ave in the Borough of Palmyra. 

 

Officers went to the residence and found Andre Muriel inside.  Andre was taken into custody without incident.  Andre Muriel was charged as a fugitive from justice.  Unable to post the $20,000 bail Andre was lodged in Burlington County Jail.

 

JULY 24, 2009

 

Police are investigating the burglary and theft from a residence on the 500 block of Vine Street.  The resident had been away from July 5, 2009 through July 24, 2009.  During that time the house was occupied by the victims two (2) brothers.  When the victim returned he found that his bedroom door had been forced open and a safe in his bedroom had also been forced open.  Taken from the safe was a Ruger 40 caliber handgun and $100.00.

JULY 20, 2009

On July 16th Palmyra Police Officers responded to a residence on the 700 Block of Morgan Ave for a burglary and theft from the residence. The resident reported that sometime during the day someone entered the residence and stole a lap top computer.
 
A subsequent investigation by Palmyra and Haddon Twp Detectives found the victims laptop at a local pawn shop. The investigation lead to a warrant being issued for burglary and theft for Rocco Defilippo Jr., 34 years old with a last known address in Mt. Laurel. 
 
On Sunday July 19th Rocco Defilippo turned himself into Palmyra Police at Palmyra Police hq’s. Mr. Defilippo was questioned by Palmyra and Haddon Twp Detectives and admitted to the burglary on Morgan Ave and to additional crimes in Haddon Twp. Mr. Defilippo also admitted to a burglary and theft in Riverton Borough. 
 
Mr. Defilippo was turned over to Riverton Police for further action on the burglary committed in their jurisdiction. Mr. Defilippo was lodged in Burlington County Jail on numerous charges out of Palmyra, Riverton and Haddon Twp.

JULY 20, 2009

April 3, 2009 Palmyra Police Officers responded to a residence on the 800 Block of Columbia Ave for an open door. On location officers found the residence had been burglarized earlier in the day. Detectives were able to gather evidence at the scene which included blood from one of the suspects. 
 
Approximately one week later Palmyra Officers assisted Cinnaminson Twp officers with a similar call in which two (2) subjects were taken into custody. The subjects fit the description to one given by a witness in the burglary on Columbia Ave. Neither subject would admit to breaking into any houses in Palmyra. They did agree to provide Palmyra Detectives with DNA samples.
 
Subsequent testing by the NJSP Laboratory came back with a positive match for Junior Arias, one the subjects stopped in Cinnaminson. Palmyra Police have issued an arrest warrant for Junior Arias who’s last known address is in Camden City. 

 JULY 13, 2009

In November 2008, Palmyra Detectives initiated an investigation on Identity Theft after a local contractor reported unauthorized use of their banking information. The investigation revealed a sophisticated operation where bank routing numbers of others would be used on newly printed checks. These checks were used to make large purchases at stores throughout the Delaware Valley.

Palmyra Police have charged James Williams, 46 years old from Philadelphia, with fraudulently using a total of thirty (30) checks using the victims account and banking information. Mr. Williams is currently in custody in Philadelphia on unrelated charges.

 JULY 13, 2009

May 17, 2009 at 8:34 PM Palmyra Police Officers responded to the 700 block of Morgan Ave for a motor vehicle accident. Officers investigating the accident were informed that they observed a white Oldsmobile strike a parked car. The driver then switched seats with the passenger. The car drove down the street with the passenger now driving and they struck a second car.

The passenger who had switched seats with the driver identified himself as Frederick Schroeder of Port St John Florida. Both subjects had been charged with DWI. On June 10, 2009 in Palmyra Municipal Court Frederick Schroeder pleaded guilty to DWI and was sentenced. A subsequent investigation revealed that Frederick Schroeder was actually Edward Schroeder, Frederick's brother.

Investigation officers have charged Edward with Impersonation, Use of Personal Identifying Information of Another, Obstruction, Hindering Apprehension, False Swearing and Perjury. Edward was also wanted on two outstanding warrants. Investigating Officers also charged Cherry Szudera, 38 of Delanco, with Hindering Apprehension. Cherry Szudera is the sister of Edward and Frederick Schroeder. ON Saturday June 11, 2009 at 2 PM Palmyra and Delanco officers went to a house on Walters Ave in Delanco where Cherry Szudera resides. At the house police took Cherry into custody and also found Edward inside where he was taken into custody.

Both Cherry and Edward were transported to Palmyra Police Headquarters. Cherry was released after posting necessary bail. Edward was unable to post the necessary bail and was transported to Burlington County Jail.
