     On December 7th, 2009, Palmyra Borough Council approved an ordinance establishing the Palmyra Business Improvement District (PBID). A BID is a public-private partnership formed to improve business and benefit residents, employees and customers. It accomplishes this by promoting the town through advertising, special events, business recruitment, planning and beautification projects, among other business development activities uniting Broad Street, Cinnaminson Avenue, Market Street, Route 73, and the region.

     The association is funded by the businesses and commercial properties that make up the PBID, and managed by the Palmyra Business Improvement Management Corporation, a non-profit organization.  The goal of the BID is to make Palmyra a better destination in which to shop, live and work. ” The members of the BID recognize that in working in partnership and helping each other succeed, we multiply our efforts”, said Suzanne Schwering of Schwering’s Hardware.

     The PBID elected its officers for 2010: Anthony Fratto, President; Joseph Tomarchio, Vice-President; Paul Villari, Treasurer; Scott Santos, Secretary.
“The PBID is very early in its formation, and looks forward to setting up operations, and begin making a positive impact in Palmyra in the near future”, stated Anthony Fratto. “We thank the businesses, community members, Mayor John Gural and the Borough Council, as well as Marianne Hulme and the Borough’s staff for assisting us in this effort”, he added.
